SUMMARY:Women’s Circle: Exploring Female Archetypes - The Midwife/Meyaled

DESCRIPTION:A monthly gathering for women to mark the full moon. Each month
 \, we will explore multiple ways of living and leading as women through the
  lens of archetypes offered to us in Jewish (and other) texts. Guided by th
 e work of Dr Rabbi Jill Hammer and the Kohenet Institute\, we will examine 
 the enormous variety of female imagery in and beyond the Torah\, and collec
 tively reflect on their meanings and resonance in our own lives. \nThis mo
 nth of Elul is pregnant with possibility – the changes and renewal that c
 an flow from self-reflection\, repentance and teshuvah. It is fitting\, the
 n\, that our women’s circle for Elul will explore the archetype of the Mi
 dwife/Meyaledet\, she who helps bring new things into being.\nPlease arrive
  from 7:45pm to make a tea and settle in for an 8pm start. \nMonthly Sunda
 y evenings 8-9.45pm\nAbout the facilitator:Rebecca has over 20 years' exper
 ience working in the Jewish community as an educator\, exhibition curator a
 nd facilitator. She was Director & CEO of the Jewish Museum of Australia fr
 om 2010-2019\, co-founder of the Jewish Climate Network\, a former board me
 mber of the National Council of Jewish Women of Australia (Victoria)\, and 
 is currently Chair of the Trustees of the Bernard Lustig Memorial Scholarsh
 ip which supports outstanding Jewish student leaders. With Masters degrees 
 in Women's Studies and Jewish Studies\, she has researched\, written and ta
 ught about feminist perspectives on Jewish texts\, history and culture. The
 se days\, she works in a completely different sphere outside of the Jewish 
 community\, but she is excited to be reconnecting to her Jewish feminist se
 lf as facilitator of the Women's Moon Circle.
